Gearing up.
So, I went a picked up a new bass guitar for studio work. I have a Beatles-esque Klira bass [violin design] but I find that it doesn’t record as well as a solid body bass. I love the Klira, but I’m going to sell it to offset the cost of the new bass. Hate to do it, but I need a studio bass.
Pro Tools finally makes nice with BFD [drum samples] in the latest version. I remember trying to get it to gel back when I purchased BFD and just wanted to punch a pillow. MIDI was unfriendly in Pro Tools.
I’m still not happy with my piano samples, and I’m working on that. It’s been so long since I’ve dealt with this aspect of my humble studio that there’s been a lot of tidying up and sorting.
In the past I’ve kept myself dedicated to recording one track at a time, and it would take about a week to complete one. This go ’round I’m going to try and bounce around a little bit. That will probably help ear fatigue. After a week straight of creating one song it’s hard to feel anything other than the urge to just be done with it.
